ARP SOLOIST FOR SALE
Vintage
Analog Preset Monophonic Synthesizer Keyboard
GENERAL INFO:
If you're here you know what this
is! A funky old preset synth from back in the day, before the Roland
SH-1000 and all that other stuff. This antique, 1 of the first ARPs
produced, actually used encapsulated modules like those found in the ARP 2600
and ARP 2500. But unlike those 2, you didn't need a degree in physics to
come up with a sound - just flip a tab and you've got instant 70's lead synth
sounds. This model sounds much better to us than other preset synths.
It's pretty rare too.
CONDITION:
Our items are as described, which means no typical
surprise post-sale repair bills or serious flaws typical of most vintage gear
deals!
....This ARP Soloist is in really nice
cosmetic shape - see the pics. We even took pics of the insides so those of you
who have never seen a Soloist's guts can admire this lovely piece of work!
Like all ARP Soloists we've heard about in recent years, the keyboard pressure (aftertouch)
effect on this one does not work. The trouble seems to be that this
mechanism uses a conductive foam that simply disintegrates over time. If
anyone's got a source for this stuff or has any idea of what to use instead,
please email us. All patches play fine and sound surprisingly good
for presets! The repeat mode works fine. The volume and portamento
faders are a bit stiff but work fine. Everything except the
aftertouch stuff is working well. One of the C keys clicks, but this might
be due to design rather than a key bushing issue.
UPDATE: We cleaned the key contacts and adjusted the J wires, so there's no
re-triggering or pitch spasms.
Don’t let our overly critical
descriptions discourage you, check out the detailed photos above!
