MOOG PRODIGY "MARK 2"
Model 336A For Sale
Vintage Analog Synthesizer
- Late Model with Inputs & Outputs
- Excellent Condition
- Working great!
GENERAL INFO:
This is one of our favorite Moog synthesizers. It sounds very similar to the classic Minimoog but is a little easier to use and
more cost effective. It's also smaller and therefore more portable. It offers a lot of features and has a beautiful warm and fat tone, which to
us and many others sounds much nicer than most other analog synthesizers. The Prodigy is excellent for both the beginner and the experienced pro. Its got enough features to create a very wide assortment of sounds - funky basses, analog leads, blips, effects and many other sounds you would expect from a synth from the 70's but is laid out in a very logical way and is therefore easy to figure out and work with. It's got 2 oscillators so you can tune intervals and offers oscillator sync to get nasty sweeping leads.

DETAILS:
Our items are as described, which means no typical
surprise post-sale repair bills or serious flaws typical of most vintage gear
deals!
If we remember correctly, the early version of the Moog Prodigy
just had a single audio output. Yaaaawwwwwnnn! The Prodigy you see
here is a rare later version with S trigger in/out, keyboard in/out, oscillator in, vcf in, sync in and hi level audio out.
These connections are a must if you want to interface it with other gear.
Without them you won't be able to hook a Prodigy up to CV Gate or MIDI devices
(the later through a MIDI to CV convertor, which we also have in stock at the
moment).
This units in really nice condition for a used item of its type and
age. The outside's been cleaned well, and we did a quick cleaning of the
inside as well. The front panel is in excellent condition. The wooden side panels look very nice - there were a few small chips in the finish that were nicely touched up and look fine (see
pics). There are a few typical scratches, mostly underneath the unit, but
nothing to worry about at all. The key contacts are performing well and
didn't require cleaning. The oscillators are in tune with one another and track the keyboard
well and didn't require calibration. The filter tracks the keyboard too when
self-oscillated and didn't require calibration either. These 3 things
usually need attention, so the fact that they didn't in this case suggests
to us that this synth was taken good care of over the years. Oh, did I
mention there was no noticeable crackle in the pots too? Another sign a
synth has been treated well. All knobs and switches were tested and are working well - this synth performs great.
The old power cord didn't have a ground so we replaced it with a new one. Not all jacks
on the back were tested, but we see no reason at all for them not to work properly.
This Prodigy should make anyone looking for a used Prodigy very
happy.
