GENERAL INFO: 

The Prophet VS is well known for its beautiful evolving digital tones. It was used on many important electronic music recordings by artists like Erasure, Nine Inch Nails (NIN), Brian Eno, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, John Carpenter and many others. It contains many interesting digital synth waveforms and allows the user to crossfade between 4 of them at a time using the built in joystick. You can get some terrific sounds out of the VS which I have not accurately reproduced on any other synth. From the classic late 80s digital synthpop sounds to crazy modern techno sounds. The VS has a really cool feature which automatically generates random patches - this is a very useful feature. Apart from its unique digital sound, it also offers analog filters for warmth and a really fat unison mode. The VS is a great synth for ambient or new age music, as well as smooth jazz, techno, synthpop and other kinds of electronic music. We like it best for pads, strings, strange morphings sounds and sharp bass.

Our items are as described, which means no typical surprise post-sale repair bills or serious flaws typical of most vintage gear deals! 

This item is in very nice shape for a used item of its type and age. It was thoroughly tested (all buttons, keys, envelopes, LFOs, arpeggiator, vector joystick, chorus, filters, etc etc ETC!) and appears to be in perfect working order. As you can see, the top was replaced with another C key. The right side has a few small dents in it near the front. Otherwise, there are typical signs of wear and use but nothing worth describing in detail - check out the detailed pics and you'll see its in fine shape. This VS was serviced by a very reputable Sequential tech in 2005. The service invoice shows a 5v regulator was replaced, a new battery was installed (which means you shouldn't have to pay to replace it any time soon!) and version 1.2 OS was installed. Prophet VS keyboard aftertouch mechanisms often don't work despite the seller not mentioning it. This ones does transmit a decent aftertouch. However, the repair invoice states that the left keyboard pressure sensor was removed due to failure - there was a broken trace that they apparently couldnt repair. They added that the right side sensor is in fact functional. This VS should make most people looking for a used VS very happy. It works well and sounds great.
