ARP ODYSSEY WHITE MARK I FOR SALE
Vintage Analog Synthesizer
Keyboard
GENERAL INFO:
This ARP Odyssey is the earlest version, the mark 1. Its filter sounds way
better to us than the other Odyssey versions, though we love all Odysseys.
The ARP Odyssey was big competition for the Minimoog - it's a much more flexible
synth so you can get a lot more interesting sounds out of it.
This model is duophonic, so you can play 2 notes at once - each note using one
of the 2 oscillators. Or, play it monophonically for a double oscillator layered
sound.
The ARP Odyssey's a great synth - it offers some very impressive modulation
options, oscillator sync, 2 vcos, sample and hold with selectable inputs and
lag, noise source, LFO, great sounding resonant lowpass filter, highpass filter,
VCA, ADSR envelope with autotriggering, CV and gate jacks for hookup to
externals synths, sequencers or MIDI convertors.
Countless musicians used this model - most famous musicians of the late 70s and
early 80s used these alongside their Minimoog and Fender Rhodes or Wurlitzer
EPs. Compared to the Minimoog, it can make similar musical sounds but is better
for sound effects and deep sounds, thanks to the additional features.
CONDITION:
Our items are as described, which means no typical
surprise post-sale repair bills or serious flaws typical of most vintage gear
deals!
This white Odyssey is in good
condition for a used item of its type and age. Most importantly, it was
just professionally serviced so operationally its in much better shape than most
others you'll find. All features were thoroughly tested and are working
well.
This particular white Ody has CV and gate ins, so you can use it with other CV
and gate devices or MIDI to CV converters (1 volt per octave CV and +15 volt
gate). Most white Ody's are without these connections and therefore the
user can only play it from its onboard keyboard.
This synth was disassembled, lovingly serviced, cleaned up and reassembled. The keyboard was rebuilt - the old bushings were replaced with new ones so the keyboard feels great (no loud clicking sounds) and the key contacts were cleaned to eliminate retriggers and pitch spasms. The pots were relubed and work well. After spending quite a long time on servicing, we put the synth back together and when photographing it, noticed that 1 of the faders is about 1/2 cm higher at 0 position than rest of them. Oops! This is nothing to worry about at all and doesn't effect function. Since we've already spent a really long time working on this synth, we're not anxious to open it up again and adjust this fader, but if you require it please let us know and we will see what we can do. This unit has some scratches and other signs of wear. Nothing hideous though. Overall, it looks good and works great! It's a real pleasure to play!
Don’t let our overly critical descriptions discourage you, check out the detailed photos above!
