GENERAL INFO: 

Those who know the Oberheim Xpander know it's one of the hippest analog synths ever made.  When it came out, it offered the flexibility of a modular synth in a more up to date MIDI capable package.  What made it so special was that most of the parameters could be modulated by a number of sources, which was unique at the time. It's multitimbral and 6 voice polyphonic.   It's got individual outs for each voice and allows you to control it via either MIDI or even external CV and gate signals - ideal for those who are using other voltage controlled synths.  It's got oscillator sync and frequency modulation which many synths from that time didn't have.  We feel its filters are its greatest strength - there are quite a few modes to choose from - different types of lowpass, highpass, bandpass, notch, etc... And lots of envelope generators and LFOs, tracking generators, ramp generators, etc.. Thanks to all its options, this is a great synth for the serious synthesist.  Or, if you failed physics, use the preset sounds.  This model sounds great without being overpowering (unless you want it to).  

Famous users of the Xpander and Matrix-12 include: Michael Brecker (RIP), Vince Clarke of Erasure, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Herbie Hancock, Steve Roach, Larry Fast, Nitzer Ebb, Scritti Politti, Van Halen and many, many other serious synth musicians.  This is one of our favorite synths and is highly recommended.

 Our items are as described, which means no typical surprise post-sale repair bills or serious flaws typical of most vintage gear deals! 

This Xpander is in exceptional condition for an item of its type and age.  If it wasn’t for a few very minor imperfections (a couple small scratches/scuffs) it would be perfect. It looks GREAT and should make anyone looking for a used Xpander very happy - its obviously been very well taken care of!  Software version: 1.2, voice version 1.4, tape version 1.0. NOTE: sometimes when TUNE ALL is selected, it only tunes oscs... why???  Strange, but everything works perfectly otherwise. If this Xpander fails to sell, we're going to swap it with one of our less attractive Xpanders and sell that one instead.  So act fast, before we come to our senses!
